Sadly this is all let down by ludicrous difficulty spikes very early in the game, coupled with a horrible checkpoint system that makes you replay drawn out sections and cutscenes just to get back into a boss fight you've had sprung on you while still woefully underpowered to have said fight and with very little practice time before hand.
